Seven Romanian Poets

Picture

Bucharest: Lake Herestrau
photo: Paul Doru

After joining the EU in 2007, as a consequence of both the free cultural exchange with Western Europe and with other world cultures facilitated by new technologies and social media, Romanian poetry evolved significantly fusing a sort of emerging “global poetics” with its strong local neo-realistic cosmopolitan sensitivity. These poems by highly-accomplished younger Romanian poets bear witness to a poetics rooted in Romania but with branches spreading across Europe and the Americas.

The poems selected here are included in Natural Born Digitals an upcoming anthology of recent Romanian poetry co-edited by Paul Doru Mugur and Claudiu Komartin that will be published by Talisman House in 2023.
