Pre-History

Picture

Boullée, Deuxieme projet pour la Bibliothèque du Roi (1785)

Of Note:

We are successively archiving back issues and continue to list them, latest first, on the drop down menu, under the link, "Back Issues."

Over time, we are also selectively adding artifacts from an earlier versions of The Wall  (see below) and its present incarnation, Witty Partition. These will affectionately be dubbed "prehistory" until some other term comes to us.

Apropos of our early issues, named and reclaiming "wall" as a word replete with many meanings, we also offer a short excerpt from a review, Virgil and Graffitti, sourced through language hat, a linguist's blog which can be accessed  here or from our "News" page.

...and two out of six articles, "Osip Mandelstam's Noise of Time," which, as well as making some other observations, offers some thoughts on translation.
